Gullah Culture
Gullah culture is a unique African American heritage found primarily in the coastal regions of the southeastern United States, particularly in the Lowcountry of South Carolina and Georgia. It developed among the descendants of enslaved Africans who worked on rice, indigo, and cotton plantations. Gullah people have preserved many African traditions, including language, crafts, and culinary practices.
The Gullah language, often referred to as Gullah or Geechee, is a creole language that blends English with various African languages. Gullah culture is also known for its vibrant storytelling, music, and art, which reflect the community's rich history and connection to African roots.
