Guadalete River
The Guadalete River is located in southern Spain, primarily flowing through the province of Cádiz. It originates in the Sierra de Grazalema mountains and travels approximately 172 kilometers before emptying into the Atlantic Ocean near the town of El Puerto de Santa María. The river is an important water source for the surrounding agricultural areas.
Historically, the Guadalete River has been significant for trade and transportation. It was the site of the Battle of Guadalete in 711 AD, which marked the beginning of the Muslim conquest of the Iberian Peninsula. Today, the river supports local ecosystems and recreational activities.
