Guadalete
The Guadalete River is located in southern Spain, primarily flowing through the province of Cádiz. It originates in the Sierra de Grazalema mountains and travels approximately 100 kilometers before emptying into the Bay of Cádiz. The river is significant for its role in local agriculture and ecology.
Historically, the Guadalete River is known for the Battle of Guadalete in 711 AD, where the forces of the Umayyad Caliphate defeated the Visigothic king, leading to the Muslim conquest of the Iberian Peninsula. Today, the river is also a popular spot for recreational activities like fishing and kayaking.
