Gros Ventre Tribe
The Gros Ventre Tribe is a Native American group originally from the northern Great Plains, primarily in what is now Montana. They are part of the larger Algonquian language family and traditionally engaged in hunting, fishing, and gathering. The tribe is known for its rich cultural heritage, including unique art, music, and storytelling traditions.
Today, the Gros Ventre are federally recognized as part of the Fort Belknap Indian Community, which they share with the Assiniboine Tribe. The tribe continues to work on preserving its cultural identity while also addressing modern challenges, such as economic development and education for its members.
