Greyfriars Bobby
Greyfriars Bobby was a Skye Terrier known for his loyalty to his owner, John Gray, a night watchman in Edinburgh, Scotland. After Gray passed away in 1858, Bobby spent 14 years guarding his grave in Greyfriars Kirkyard, becoming a beloved figure in the city.
Bobby's dedication led to his fame, and he was often fed by locals and visitors. In 1872, the Lord Provost of Edinburgh, Sir William Chambers, arranged for Bobby to receive a collar and license, allowing him to roam freely. Today, a statue of Bobby stands near the cemetery, commemorating his enduring loyalty.
