Green Mountain Club
The Green Mountain Club (GMC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation and enjoyment of the Green Mountains in Vermont. Founded in 1910, the club plays a crucial role in maintaining the Long Trail, which is the oldest long-distance hiking trail in the United States. The GMC promotes outdoor recreation, environmental stewardship, and education about the natural resources of the region.
In addition to trail maintenance, the GMC organizes various activities, including guided hikes, volunteer opportunities, and educational programs. The club also advocates for the protection of the Green Mountains and works to ensure that these natural spaces remain accessible for future generations.
