Greek Ships
Greek ships, particularly during the ancient period, were essential for trade, warfare, and exploration. The most famous type was the trireme, a fast and agile warship powered by three rows of oars. These ships were designed for speed and maneuverability, allowing the Athenian navy to dominate the seas during the Peloponnesian War.
In addition to triremes, the Greeks also built larger merchant vessels for transporting goods across the Mediterranean. These ships had a single mast and were equipped with sails, enabling them to carry cargo like olive oil, wine, and pottery. Greek shipbuilding techniques laid the foundation for naval architecture in later civilizations.
