Great St. Bernard Hospice
The Great St. Bernard Hospice is a historical building located in the Great St. Bernard Pass in the Swiss Alps. Established in the 11th century, it served as a refuge for travelers crossing the treacherous mountain pass. The hospice is known for its role in providing shelter and care, particularly during harsh winter conditions.
The hospice is also famous for the St. Bernard dogs, which were bred by the monks to assist in rescue missions. These dogs are recognized for their size and gentle temperament, making them ideal companions for rescuers navigating the snowy terrain.
