Great Mound of Giza
The Great Mound of Giza, often referred to as the Great Pyramid of Giza, is one of the most iconic structures in the world. Built around 2580–2560 BC during the reign of Pharaoh Khufu, it is the largest of the three pyramids on the Giza plateau in Egypt. The pyramid originally stood at 146.6 meters (481 feet) and was constructed using approximately 2.3 million blocks of stone.
This ancient wonder served as a tomb for Khufu and is part of a complex that includes the Sphinx and smaller pyramids. The Great Mound is the only surviving structure of the original Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, showcasing the remarkable engineering skills of the ancient Egyptians.
