Great Egret
The Great Egret is a large, white wading bird known for its long neck and legs. It typically measures about 3 to 4 feet in height and has a wingspan of 4 to 5 feet. This bird is commonly found in wetlands, marshes, and along shorelines, where it hunts for fish, frogs, and other small aquatic animals.
During the breeding season, the Great Egret displays striking plumage, including long, delicate feathers called aigrettes. These feathers were once highly sought after for fashion, leading to significant conservation efforts. Today, the Great Egret is a symbol of successful wildlife protection and is often seen in various habitats across North America and Europe.
