Gravis
Gravis is a medical condition characterized by weakness in the voluntary muscles, primarily caused by an autoimmune response. In this condition, the body's immune system mistakenly attacks the acetylcholine receptors at the neuromuscular junction, leading to muscle fatigue and weakness. Symptoms often worsen with activity and improve with rest.
The most common form of Gravis is Myasthenia Gravis, which can affect various muscle groups, including those responsible for eye movement, facial expression, and swallowing. Treatment options include medications that enhance communication between nerves and muscles, as well as therapies aimed at reducing the immune response.
