Grand Sumo Tournaments
Grand Sumo Tournaments are major competitions held in Japan, featuring professional sumo wrestlers. These tournaments occur six times a year, each lasting 15 days. Wrestlers compete in a circular ring called a dohyo, aiming to push their opponent out or make them touch the ground with anything other than the soles of their feet.
Each tournament is divided into various divisions, with the top division known as Makuuchi. Wrestlers are ranked based on their performance, and the highest-ranked wrestlers are called Yokozuna. The tournaments attract large crowds and are a significant part of Japanese culture, showcasing traditional rituals and ceremonies.
