Grand Sumo
Grand Sumo is a traditional Japanese sport that features large athletes, known as rikishi, competing in a circular ring called a dohyo. The objective is to force an opponent out of the ring or to make them touch the ground with any part of their body other than the soles of their feet. Matches are often brief but intense, showcasing strength, balance, and technique.
The sport is governed by strict rules and rituals, including the shiko foot stomping and the use of salt for purification. Grand Sumo tournaments, held six times a year, attract large crowds and are a significant part of Japanese culture.
