Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg is the reigning monarch of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, having ascended to the throne on October 7, 2000. Born on April 16, 1955, he is the son of Grand Duke Jean and Grand Duchess Joséphine-Charlotte. Henri studied at the University of Geneva and the Royal Military Academy in Belgium. As a constitutional monarch, Grand Duke Henri's role is largely ceremonial, representing Luxembourg at official events and engaging in diplomatic relations. He is married to Grand Duchess Maria Teresa, and they have five children. The Grand Duke is also involved in various charitable organizations and initiatives.
