Granary Weevil
The Granary Weevil is a small insect belonging to the family Curculionidae. It primarily infests stored grains, such as wheat, corn, and rice. Adult weevils are about 2.5 to 5 millimeters long and have a distinctive elongated snout. They lay their eggs inside the grains, and the larvae feed on the grain, causing significant damage to food supplies.
These pests are commonly found in granaries and warehouses, where they can thrive in warm, dry conditions. Effective control methods include proper storage practices, regular inspections, and the use of insecticides when necessary. Managing humidity and temperature can also help prevent infestations.
