Gran Sasso Laboratory
The Gran Sasso Laboratory is a major scientific research facility located in the Gran Sasso mountain range in Italy. It is part of the National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN) and is known for its underground experiments that study particle physics, astrophysics, and nuclear physics. The laboratory is situated about 1,400 meters underground, which helps shield experiments from cosmic radiation.
Established in 1987, the Gran Sasso Laboratory hosts several important experiments, including those searching for dark matter and studying neutrinos. Its unique location and advanced technology make it a key site for researchers from around the world, contributing significantly to our understanding of fundamental physics.
