Governor of New York
The Governor of New York is the head of the executive branch of the state government. This position is responsible for enforcing state laws, overseeing the state budget, and managing various state agencies. The governor also has the power to sign or veto legislation passed by the state legislature, known as the New York State Assembly and New York State Senate.
Elected for a four-year term, the governor can serve unlimited terms. The current governor, as of October 2023, is Kathy Hochul, who took office in August 2021. The governor's office is located in the New York State Capitol in Albany.
