Gorilla Gorilla
The term "Gorilla Gorilla" refers to the scientific name for the western gorilla, a large primate native to the forests of central and western Africa. This species is divided into two subspecies: the western lowland gorilla and the Cross River gorilla. Western gorillas are known for their robust build, long arms, and social behavior, often living in groups led by a dominant male known as a silverback.
Gorilla gorillas primarily inhabit tropical rainforests and are herbivorous, feeding on leaves, stems, and fruits. They play a crucial role in their ecosystem by helping to disperse seeds. Unfortunately, they face threats from habitat loss and poaching, leading to their classification as endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
