Goma
Goma is a city located in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, near the border with Rwanda. It lies on the northern shore of Lake Kivu and serves as a significant commercial and administrative center in the region. Goma is known for its proximity to the Virunga National Park, which is home to diverse wildlife, including the endangered mountain gorillas.
The city has experienced various challenges, including conflict and natural disasters, particularly volcanic eruptions from the nearby Mount Nyiragongo. Despite these issues, Goma remains a vital hub for trade and transportation, connecting the DRC with neighboring countries and facilitating economic activities in the area.
