Gliwice Radio Tower
The Gliwice Radio Tower is a tall wooden radio transmission tower located in Gliwice, Poland. Completed in 1935, it stands at 111 meters (364 feet) and was used for broadcasting radio signals. The tower is notable for being one of the tallest wooden structures in Europe and played a significant role in the early development of radio technology.
In addition to its broadcasting function, the Gliwice Radio Tower is historically significant due to its association with the Gleiwitz Incident in 1939, which was a staged attack used as a pretext for the invasion of Poland by Nazi Germany. Today, the tower is a popular tourist attraction and a symbol of the city's history.
