Giovanna of Naples
Giovanna of Naples, also known as Joanna I of Naples, was a queen who ruled from 1343 to 1382. She was born in 1328 and became the first female monarch of Naples. Her reign was marked by political intrigue, including conflicts with the Papal States and rival claimants to her throne.
Giovanna was known for her patronage of the arts and her efforts to strengthen the economy of her kingdom. Despite her accomplishments, her rule faced challenges, including accusations of tyranny and involvement in the deaths of her husbands. She ultimately died under mysterious circumstances in 1382.
