The Giant Salamander is one of the largest amphibians in the world, known for its impressive size, which can reach up to 1.5 meters (5 feet) in length. Native to the rivers and streams of China, Japan, and North America, these creatures thrive in cool, freshwater environments. They have a distinctive, wrinkled appearance and can weigh over 60 kilograms (132 pounds). Giant salamanders are primarily nocturnal and are excellent swimmers.
