Gherman Titov was a Soviet cosmonaut born on September 11, 1935. He became the second person to orbit the Earth, following Yuri Gagarin, on his flight aboard Vostok 2 in 1961. Titov's mission lasted about 25 hours, during which he completed 17 orbits around the planet. In addition to his historic flight, Titov was a skilled pilot and engineer. He later served in various roles within the Soviet space program and contributed to the development of future space missions.
