Gestational Diabetes
Gestational Diabetes is a type of diabetes that develops during pregnancy. It occurs when the body cannot produce enough insulin to meet the increased needs during this time, leading to higher blood sugar levels. This condition typically appears in the second or third trimester and usually resolves after childbirth.
Women diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes may need to monitor their blood sugar levels and follow a special diet to manage their condition. If left untreated, it can lead to complications for both the mother and the baby, including a higher risk of type 2 diabetes later in life.
