German Wars of Liberation
The German Wars of Liberation (1813-1815) were a series of conflicts fought against the Napoleonic Wars. These wars aimed to free the German states from French control and were marked by a surge of nationalistic sentiment among the German people. The most significant battles included the Battle of Leipzig, where a coalition of German, Russian, Austrian, and Prussian forces defeated Napoleon Bonaparte.
The wars ultimately contributed to the decline of French dominance in Europe and the rise of German nationalism. Following the conflicts, the Congress of Vienna in 1815 sought to reorganize Europe, leading to the establishment of the German Confederation.
