German Left-Wing Terrorism
German left-wing terrorism primarily refers to violent actions taken by radical leftist groups in Germany, particularly during the late 20th century. One of the most notable organizations was the Red Army Faction (RAF), which emerged in the 1970s. The RAF aimed to challenge the capitalist system and was involved in bank robberies, kidnappings, and assassinations, believing that such actions would inspire a broader revolutionary movement.
These groups often targeted symbols of state authority and capitalism, viewing their actions as a form of political protest. The German government responded with extensive counter-terrorism measures, leading to the decline of organized left-wing violence by the 1990s.
