Gerberga of Saxony
Gerberga of Saxony was a noblewoman born around 913, known for her role in the early medieval European aristocracy. She was the daughter of Henry the Fowler, the first King of the Germans, and Matilda of Ringelheim. Gerberga married Hugh the Great, a powerful noble in France, which strengthened ties between the German and French realms.
Gerberga was the mother of several influential children, including Hugh Capet, who became the first King of the Franks from the Capetian dynasty. Her lineage played a significant role in shaping the political landscape of medieval Europe, as her descendants held various important titles and positions across the continent.
