Georgia Court of Appeals
The Georgia Court of Appeals is the intermediate appellate court in the state of Georgia. It reviews decisions made by lower trial courts to ensure that the law was applied correctly. Established in 1906, the court helps to manage the caseload of the Supreme Court of Georgia by handling a variety of civil and criminal cases.
The court consists of 12 judges who are elected to serve six-year terms. Cases are typically heard by panels of three judges, who review the records and arguments presented. The decisions made by the Georgia Court of Appeals can be appealed to the Supreme Court of Georgia in certain circumstances.
