George Pell
George Pell was an Australian cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church, born on June 8, 1941. He served as the Archbishop of Sydney from 2001 to 2014 and was a prominent figure in the Church, known for his conservative views and influence within the Vatican. Pell was appointed to the position of Prefect of the Secretariat for the Economy in 2014, overseeing the financial management of the Church.
In 2018, Pell was convicted of child sexual abuse, a decision that sparked significant public debate and controversy. His conviction was later overturned by the High Court of Australia in 2020, leading to his release from prison. Pell passed away on January 10, 2023, at the age of 81.
