George Maduro
George Maduro was a Dutch resistance fighter during World War II, known for his bravery and leadership against the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands. Born on February 15, 1921, in The Hague, he became involved in the resistance movement after the German invasion in 1940. Maduro played a significant role in organizing efforts to protect Jewish families and sabotage German operations.
Tragically, George Maduro was captured by the Nazis in 1944 and sent to the concentration camp at Dachau. He died there on February 9, 1945, just months before the end of the war. In recognition of his heroism, the Madurodam miniature park in The Hague was named in his honor, celebrating his contributions to the fight for freedom.
