George Floyd protests
The George Floyd protests began in late May 2020 after the death of George Floyd, an African American man, during an arrest in Minneapolis. A video showed a police officer, Derek Chauvin, kneeling on Floyd's neck for over nine minutes, sparking outrage and calls for justice.
The protests quickly spread across the United States and around the world, focusing on issues of police brutality, systemic racism, and social justice. Many demonstrators called for reforms in law enforcement practices and greater accountability for police officers involved in misconduct.
