George Edward Moore
George Edward Moore was a British philosopher, born on November 4, 1873, and known for his significant contributions to the field of analytic philosophy. He is best recognized for his work in ethics and epistemology, particularly for the development of the Moorean shift, which argues against skepticism by asserting that common sense beliefs are often more reliable than philosophical theories.
Moore is also famous for his defense of realism and his critique of idealism, which was prevalent in the early 20th century. His most notable work, "Principia Ethica," published in 1903, introduced the concept of the naturalistic fallacy, arguing that moral properties cannot be reduced to natural properties.
