Georg von Trapp
Georg von Trapp was an Austrian naval officer and the patriarch of the von Trapp family, known for their musical talents. He was born on April 4, 1880, in Zara, which is now part of Croatia. After serving in World War I, he became a successful businessman and later moved to Salzburg, Austria, where he married Maria Augusta Kutschera.
