Genkō War
The Genkō War was a conflict that took place in Japan during the late 13th century, specifically from 1274 to 1281. It was fought between the Japanese and the invading forces of the Mongol Empire, led by Kublai Khan. The war is notable for the two major invasions of Japan, which were ultimately repelled by the Japanese defenders.
The conflict is often remembered for the role of the kamikaze, or "divine winds," which were typhoons that struck the Mongol fleets, causing significant destruction. The Genkō War solidified Japan's national identity and resistance against foreign invasion, influencing its military strategies in the years to come.
