Genitofemoral Nerve
The Genitofemoral Nerve is a mixed nerve that arises from the lumbar plexus, specifically from the L1 and L2 spinal nerves. It has two main branches: the genital branch, which innervates the skin of the scrotum in males and the labia majora in females, and the femoral branch, which provides sensation to the upper thigh.
This nerve plays a crucial role in the sensory innervation of the groin area. It also contributes to the cremaster reflex in males, which helps regulate the position of the testes in response to temperature changes.
