Genghis Khan was the founder and first Great Khan of the Mongol Empire, which became the largest contiguous empire in history after his death. Under Genghis Khan's rule, the Mongol Empire facilitated trade and cultural exchange along the Silk Road. He implemented a legal code known as the Yassa, promoting order and stability. His legacy includes significant advancements in communication and governance, influencing many regions long after his reign ended in 1227.
