General Franklin Gardner
General Franklin Gardner was a Confederate officer during the American Civil War. He is best known for his role in the defense of Port Hudson, Louisiana, where he commanded Confederate forces from 1862 to 1863. Gardner's leadership was crucial during the lengthy siege by Union forces, which was one of the first major engagements to occur after the fall of Vicksburg.
