The Geminids are a spectacular meteor shower that occurs every December, peaking around the 13th and 14th. They are known for producing bright, colorful meteors that can be seen streaking across the night sky. Unlike many other meteor showers, the Geminids originate from an asteroid called 3200 Phaethon, making them unique in their source.
As the Earth passes through the debris left by this asteroid, tiny particles enter our atmosphere and burn up, creating the dazzling light show. Observers can often see up to 120 meteors per hour during the peak, making the Geminids one of the most active meteor showers of the year.
