Gemini 8
Gemini 8 was a significant space mission launched by NASA on March 16, 1966. It was the sixth crewed flight of the Gemini program and aimed to demonstrate the ability to dock with another spacecraft in orbit. The mission was piloted by astronauts Neil Armstrong and David Scott, marking an important step toward future lunar missions.
During the mission, Gemini 8 successfully docked with the Agena Target Vehicle, but shortly after, the spacecraft experienced a critical malfunction that caused it to spin uncontrollably. Armstrong and Scott managed to regain control and safely returned to Earth, showcasing their skills and the importance of training for unexpected challenges in space.
