Gelati Monastery
Gelati Monastery is a historic religious complex located in Georgia, near the city of Kutaisi. Founded in the 12th century by King David IV, it served as a center for education and culture during the medieval period. The monastery is renowned for its stunning frescoes and unique architecture, which reflect the artistic achievements of the time.
The site is also home to the Gelati Academy, one of the first higher education institutions in Georgia. In 1994, Gelati Monastery was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its significant cultural and historical value, attracting visitors from around the world.
