Geiko
A Geiko is a traditional Japanese female entertainer, primarily found in Kyoto. They are skilled in various arts, including classical music, dance, and games. Geiko wear elegant kimonos and distinctive hairstyles adorned with hairpieces, reflecting their status and the season.
Geiko are often confused with Geisha, but the term "Geiko" is specific to those from Kyoto. They entertain guests in teahouses by engaging in conversation, performing arts, and serving drinks. The training to become a Geiko is rigorous, starting from a young age as an apprentice known as a Maiko.
