Ge'ez Language
The Ge'ez language is an ancient Semitic language that originated in the region of present-day Ethiopia and Eritrea. It is primarily known as the liturgical language of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church and the Eritrean Orthodox Tewahedo Church. Although it is no longer spoken as a native language, it remains important for religious texts and historical studies.
Ge'ez has a unique script, also called Ge'ez, which is used to write the language. The script consists of characters that represent syllables rather than individual sounds. Today, Ge'ez is studied by scholars and is a key part of Ethiopia's cultural heritage, influencing modern languages like Amharic and Tigrinya.
