Gaurs
Gaurs, also known as Indian bison, are large herbivorous mammals native to the forests of South and Southeast Asia. They are characterized by their muscular build, long legs, and distinctive curved horns. Adult gaurs can weigh between 1,000 to 2,200 pounds and stand about 6 feet tall at the shoulder. Their coat is typically dark brown or black, with lighter markings on the face and legs.
These animals are social and often found in small herds, usually led by a dominant male. Gaurs primarily feed on grasses, leaves, and fruits, playing a crucial role in their ecosystem by helping to maintain vegetation balance. They are currently listed as vulnerable due to habitat loss and hunting.
