Gastroepiploic Artery
The gastroepiploic artery is a blood vessel that supplies the stomach and the greater omentum, a fold of peritoneum extending from the stomach. It branches from the gastroduodenal artery and runs along the greater curvature of the stomach, providing essential oxygenated blood to these areas.
There are two main gastroepiploic arteries: the right gastroepiploic artery, which arises from the gastroduodenal artery, and the left gastroepiploic artery, which branches from the splenic artery. These arteries play a crucial role in maintaining the health of the stomach and surrounding tissues by ensuring adequate blood flow.
