Gargoyle
A gargoyle is a carved stone creature, often resembling a grotesque figure, that is typically found on buildings, especially on Gothic-style architecture. Originally, they served a practical purpose by directing rainwater away from the sides of structures, preventing erosion. Gargoyles are often seen on cathedrals, such as the famous Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris.
In addition to their functional role, gargoyles are also considered decorative elements. They often depict various animals, mythical beings, or human figures, and are believed to ward off evil spirits. Their unique designs contribute to the overall aesthetic of buildings, making them popular in both historical and modern architecture.
