Ganesh Festivals
The Ganesh Festival, also known as Ganesh Chaturthi, is a Hindu celebration honoring Lord Ganesha, the elephant-headed god of wisdom and prosperity. This festival typically lasts for 10 days, starting in the month of Bhadrapada (August-September). Devotees create colorful idols of Ganesha, which are worshipped in homes and public spaces, accompanied by prayers, music, and dance.
At the end of the festival, the idols are immersed in water during a ceremony called Visarjan. This symbolizes the cycle of birth and rebirth, as well as the return of Ganesha to his celestial abode. The festival fosters community spirit and cultural traditions among participants.
