Gamalama Volcano
Gamalama Volcano is an active stratovolcano located on the island of Ternate in Indonesia. It rises about 1,715 meters (5,626 feet) above sea level and is part of the Sundra Arc, a volcanic region formed by the subduction of the Australian Plate beneath the Eurasian Plate. The volcano has a history of eruptions, with significant activity recorded in the 17th and 18th centuries.
The most recent eruption occurred in 2010, which prompted local authorities to issue warnings and evacuate nearby residents. The surrounding area is rich in biodiversity and is home to various species of flora and fauna, making it an important ecological zone in the region.
