Galla Placidia
Galla Placidia was a Roman empress born around 388 AD, known for her influential role in the Western Roman Empire. She was the daughter of Emperor Theodosius I and sister of Emperor Honorius. After her father's death, she was captured by the Visigoths but later married Athaulf, their king, which helped to stabilize relations between the Romans and the Visigoths.
After Athaulf's death, Galla Placidia returned to Rome and married Constantius III, who became emperor. She served as regent for her son, Valentinian III, and was instrumental in political affairs during her reign. Galla Placidia is also known for commissioning the stunning Mausoleum of Galla Placidia in Ravenna, showcasing early Christian art.
