Gagauz People
The Gagauz people are a Turkic ethnic group primarily found in Moldova, particularly in the autonomous region of Gagauzia. They speak the Gagauz language, which is closely related to Turkish and is written in the Latin alphabet. The Gagauz have a rich cultural heritage, influenced by both Turkic and Slavic traditions.
Historically, the Gagauz people migrated to the region in the 19th century, escaping persecution in the Ottoman Empire. They are predominantly Orthodox Christians, which distinguishes them from many other Turkic groups. The Gagauz maintain their unique identity through traditional music, dance, and cuisine.
