Gabriel Prosser
Gabriel Prosser was an enslaved Blacksmith born around 1776 in Virginia. He is best known for leading a planned rebellion in 1800, which aimed to gain freedom for enslaved people. Prosser organized a group of fellow enslaved individuals and planned to march on Richmond, Virginia, but the rebellion was thwarted when informants revealed the plot.
After the failed uprising, Prosser was captured, tried, and executed in 1800. His rebellion highlighted the growing tensions over slavery in the United States and inspired future movements for freedom, making him a significant figure in the history of American slavery and abolition.
